biography

Art has been part of my life since childhood. As a girl my grandmother gave me art lessons, and my senior high school class voted me “Girl Art Student of the Year”. I received a B.A. in graphic design from Florida State University. Later I returned to college and earned a B.F.A. in ceramics and printmaking from Florida Atlantic University.

Since college I have dedicated myself to exploring ceramic vessel-making using the slab technique. Along with my pottery, I have completed four public art commissions. The first two were in Florida, one for the Florida Highway Patrol in Miami/Dade County, and the other for a bridge along the Fort Lauderdale  Riverwalk. The latter two have been for public libraries in Los Angeles: the North Hollywood Regional Branch Library and the Harbor City/Harbor Gateway Branch Library. My work has been juried into many national and regional ceramics exhibitions, and published in several books on clay by Lark Publishing, as well as Ceramics Monthly magazine. Several pieces have been used on the sets of television shows such as Starting Over on NBC, and That's Clever on HGTV.

I am an Exhibiting Member of the Association of Clay and Glass Artists of California where I work to coordinate ACGA's Clay and Glass Biennial Exhibition.
